This journey started over a year ago starting with the 50th anniversary celebration of Morant Bay High School’s existence. We celebrated in Jamaica in January, and then journeyed to Canada in May. While the High School was celebrating a milestone, the New York Alumni Chapter was celebrating its quarter century, becoming 25 years strong in existence. The turnout was a success because people love the idea of getting the opportunity to come out and reminisce through the years. No matter what road of life have been traveled, and no matter what battle scars we have along the way, that meeting place in the Bronx brings back the memories of adolescence that we recognize in each other. Not only do we come from the tri-state area. We come from all over the United States, Canada, Jamaica and other far fetch regions of the world to have a reunion.
The highlights of this 25th Celebration showcased the talents of some magnificent individuals who exemplified what having the opportunity of a tertiary education can manifest in your life. To acknowledge when an individual have really done a remarkable job in their life and indeed encourage us that with our donation and support the potential to uplift a child in need beyond their current circumstances will enhance us and our community to a better place. The New York Alumni Chapter strives to live out the creed of our Alma mater by helping one child at a time.
We continue to strive to make the next 25 years even more spectacular and for you all to leave wanting just a little bit more…. So, live long and prosper until we meet again on the First Saturday in November 2012.
